At South Essex College, we have a great community of staff and students who love to comment, debate and reflect on matters affecting their College experience.
Technology helps us communicate, but its that manner of communication that has started to change teaching with the advent of forums, social media websites and telecommunications; Students are now commenting on a range of issues that concern them, whenever they like.
We have a thriving Forum that enables students to ask for coursework or assigment help, engage in debates on matters important to them, set up clubs and share content they have created. Through the use of Twitetr, staff are able to discuss best practice, discuss student queries and debate how we can improve the utilisation of ICT for all learners.
A thriving community enables the ILS team to receive feedback on the use of C Space, what's great about it and what we could do better, which ensures that any new developments are molded by the people that use the system the most.
A number of teams are using Twitter in and outside of College to promote the use of ICT and inform all staff of current ICT engagement projects and activities. We're also developing an in house communications tool that will allow staff and students to communicate within a controlled and secure enviroment.
In the past year the use of C Space forums has grown from a very small base to become a large and vibrant student community discussing a huge range of topics. The College forums provide a structured, controlled and safe environment in which students can discuss and debate all aspects of their life and learning at the College. Want to know more?
Here at SEEC we love it when students want to publish their own content; alongside forums and online noticeboards we've also created content management systems where students can create, amend and publish content on C Space
